Chin Implant surgery in New York City is a surgical procedure aimed to achieve facial balance, and is often combined with other facial cosmetic procedures.
A small or recessive chin can make a person look weak and can be the source of ridicule. An underdeveloped lower jaw, with malocclusion or an overbite requires a combination of orthodontia and major maxillofacial surgery to move the entire jawbone forward to correct the imbalance.
However, often the teeth are in normal alignment yet the chin itself is underdeveloped. In such an instance, major surgery is not necessary. Placement of a small prosthetic implant either through an incision beneath the chin or one inside the mouth, provides a simple yet highly effective correction of this problem. I have been performing Chin Implant Surgery in NYC for over 20 years and have the expertise to offer your best options for the ultimate result.
CHIN ENHANCEMENT CONSULTATION AND CANDIDATES
The consultation process, (plan to spend at least one hour) includes an in-depth discussion about your desires with regard to shape, size and recovery from Chin Implant surgery.
Sometimes Chin Implant surgery is combined with cosmetic Rhinoplasty surgery to achieve
facial balance, reducing the size of the nose and increasing the size of the chin. It is the surgeon’s task to explain all aspects of the operation, the pros and cons, and most importantly, the concept of realistic expectations with regard to your postoperative result. If you have concerns about the size or weakness of your chin, or are bothered by comments about your chin, then Chin Implant Surgery may be for you.
This type of surgery can enhance appearance and improve overall self-confidence and self-esteem. The best candidates for Chin Implant surgery are healthy individuals who are realistic about what the surgery can afford after a complete consultation.
CHIN IMPLANT SURGERY
Scarring is usually not an issue because of the scar location either in the mouth or under the chin and I close the skin with great care and offer advice and support regarding scar care after surgery.
Chin Implant surgery can be performed under local anesthesia with sedation or under general anesthesia, and consists of making a small incision inside the mouth or under the chin. Sometimes tape is applied around the chin to keep the implant in place and is removed in 1-3 days. My patients return to work after the tape is removed and full activity is resumed within two weeks. The satisfaction rate for this surgery is extremely high as the results are immediately visible and are usually lifelong.
*Each patient is unique and individual results may vary.
RECOVERING FROM A CHIN IMPLANT PROCEDURE
After Chin Implant surgery you will be discharged with explicit wound care and subsequent scar care instructions. You will be quite swollen for 2-4 days after surgery, and we will counsel you about caring for that aspect of your recovery. Most of my patients return to work in 2-3 days, and pain after surgery is well controlled with mild pain medication or Tylenol. Sutures are removed 7 days after surgery.
The Chin Implant surgery is performed in my state of the art fully certified operative suite in my office located on the Upper East Side in NYC. Anesthesia is administered by board certified anesthesiologists. You will be given a follow-up appointment with me in 5-7 days.
I have a great deal of experience with all aspects of Chin Implant surgery, and comfortably possess the required expertise to allow me to achieve the best possible results for you. If you are displeased with the shape or size of your chin, then Chin Implant Surgery may be an option for you.

There is little significant pain after Chin Implant Surgery, and for that reason, many of my patients return to work in 1-3 days.
WILL CHIN IMPLANT SURGERY AFFECT MY ABILITY TO CHEW AND EAT?
After Chin Implant surgery, I recommend a soft diet of soups, pasta and shakes, but after 1-2 days, a normal diet is resumed.
WHEN CAN I EXPECT TO REACH MY FINAL RESULT AFTER CHIN IMPLANT SURGERY?
Within 2 weeks, my Chin Implant surgery patients notice a significant improvement. Most of the post-operative swelling is gone by 6 weeks, but 100% is usually gone after 6 months, achieving the final result.
DO I NEED TO EXCHANGE MY IMPLANT AFTER CHIN IMPLANT SURGERY, DOES IT WEAR OUT?
No, the implant used in Chin Implant Surgery is made of solid soft silicone, and usually permanent.
